It’s the result of a controlled and integrated process, in which respect for people, animals and the environment are central. So, Vanlommel produces veal not only from thorough knowledge and expertise but also from a strong sense of responsibility. In this way, Vanlommel guarantees a personal, customised approach and service.

History

RESPONSIBILITY

Animals, feed, people, energy: a lot of different aspects are involved in the production of veal. Vanlommel approaches and handles each of these aspects in a socially responsible manner.

  • ANIMAL WELFARE

    As a major player in the sector, Vanlommel wants to play a pioneering role in enhancing animal welfare. In consultation with its customers, Vanlommel has issued various specifications in which animal welfare is primary: thus, in the Well and Fair specification, important extra-legal rules have been applied that are also audited by an independent party. Vanlommel has taken responsible measures in the process of rearing calves as well as in the slaughterhouse.

  • RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION

    From feed to veal: Verveka and Vanlommel control the entire supply chain. Because Vanlommel is well aware of its responsibility to guarantee the quality of the product, the necessary controls are built into each stage of the production system. This also guarantees optimal traceability.

  • PEOPLE

    A proper piece of veal? That can only be delivered by dedicated and professional employees. Vanlommel’s multicultural policy ensures that everyone who wants to contribute to its success is given a place within the company.

  • ENVIRONMENT

    Vanlommel is constantly seeking ways to reduce its ecological footprint:

    • Transport and logistics: optimising by consistently determining the shortest routes;
    • Refrigeration: optimising the process of refrigerating slaughtered calves;
    • Generating energy via solar panels;
    • Energy: valorising residual flows.
